It is written: “ Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” –Romans 12:2
Angelo Paul Ramunni wrote The Poor Catholic; The Road to Grace to explain what it means to be a poor Catholic–which is someone who is missing the most important thing in life, a close personal friendship with Jesus. “I consider myself to be the original ‘poor Catholic’ because I purposely kept a distance between myself and God for 41 years of my life. I played religion, but had no genuine faith in Christ.“
A common worldly tactical threat to get one’s way: “I’m going to sue!” What does the Bible teach to this mindset: “The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?” -1 Corinthians 6:7 “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” -Mark 8:36 Where is unfailing love?
The world is okay with hating- to hate is human. What do the Scriptures say to this? “Human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” -James 1:20 “[Jesus:] If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?” -Matthew 5:46 “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” -1 John 4:20 Where is unfailing love?
