Angelo Paul Ramunni wrote The Poor Catholic; The Road to Grace to explain what it means to be a poor Catholic–which is someone who is missing the most important thing in life, a close personal friendship with Jesus. “I consider myself to be the original ‘poor Catholic’ because I purposely kept a distance between myself and God for 41 years of my life. I played religion, but had no genuine faith in Christ.“
A common worldly tactical threat to get one’s way: “I’m going to sue!” What does the Bible teach to this mindset: “The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?” -1 Corinthians 6:7 “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” -Mark 8:36 Where is unfailing love?
The world does not hold marriage vows as sacred- divorce, prenuptial agreements are not from Jesus’ teachings. Holy Scripture: Keep Your Marriage Vows: “Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife.” -1 Corinthians 7:10, 11 “For the man who does not love his wife but divorces her, says the Lord, the God of Israel, covers his garment with violence, says the Lord of hosts. So guard yourselves in your spirit, and do not be faithless.” -Malachi 2:16 Where is unfailing love?
The world is okay with hating and killing- to hate is human. What do the Scriptures say to this? “Human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” -James 1:20 “[Jesus:] If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?” -Matthew 5:46 “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” -1 John 4:20 (Jesus): “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” -John 8:44 Where is unfailing love?
