Christianity versus the World

Choose life! (Used with permission)

Angelo Paul Ramunni wrote The Poor Catholic; The Road to Grace to explain what it means to be a poor Catholic–which is someone who is missing the most important thing in life, a close personal friendship with Jesus. “I consider myself to be the original ‘poor Catholic’ because I purposely kept a distance between myself and God for 41 years of my life. I played religion, but had no genuine faith in Christ.

A common worldly tactical threat to get one’s way: “I’m going to sue!” What does the Bible teach to this mindset: “The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?” -1 Corinthians 6:7 “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” -Mark 8:36 Where is unfailing love?

The world is okay with hating- to hate is human. What do the Scriptures say to this? “Human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” -James 1:20 “[Jesus:] If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that?” -Matthew 5:46 “Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” -1 John 4:20 Where is unfailing love?
